From the Editor's Desk
The Dhanamanjuri University Journal of Sciences (DMUJS) remains committed to fostering rigorous, ethical, and innovative scientific inquiry. In a rapidly evolving research landscape marked by fast knowledge generation and growing concerns about integrity and reproducibility, our responsibility is greater than ever. This journal upholds quality research that is methodologically sound, conceptually strong, ethically responsible, and socially meaningful, ensuring science contributes responsibly to society and scholarship. Science is at a transformative moment: global research output has surged, but the shift from quantity to quality is now crucial. Large volumes of studies are published daily, yet many lack rigorous standards, leading to irreproducible findings and misleading conclusions that affect policy, health, technology, and society. Ensuring quality is therefore both a professional and ethical duty. In North East India, rich in biodiversity, cultural diversity, and complex socio-ecological systems, the need for robust, context-specific research is especially urgent. Such work must follow sound methods, conceptual clarity, ethical sampling, and transparent reporting to yield meaningful contributions. A scholarly journal serves not only to disseminate research but also to uphold academic accountability. The integrity of science depends on robust peer review, editorial evaluation, and strict publication ethics. At the Dhanamanjuri University Journal of Sciences, every manuscript undergoes expert review, plagiarism and ethical checks, methodological scrutiny, assessment of its scholarly contribution, and evaluation of clarity and logical coherence. Since research must withstand replication and critique, we promote open science practices such as data sharing, transparent methods, and preregistered designs to strengthen credibility, encourage collaboration, and accelerate the collective advancement of scientific knowledge.
The scientific world is undergoing rapid transformation driven by digital technologies, interdisciplinary integration, artificial intelligence, and global challenges such as pandemics, climate instability, and resource scarcity, all of which have reshaped expectations from researchers. Complex issues increasingly demand interdisciplinary approaches, whether in climate resilience, public health, or technology-driven sciences, and our journal strongly encourages submissions that bridge disciplinary boundaries. At the same time, global concerns over reproducibility highlight the necessity of robust methodology, adequate sample sizes, sound statistical practices, and transparent reporting, underscoring the value of replication studies, negative results, and corrective work. Technological innovations from high-performance computing and remote sensing to bioinformatics, machine learning, and advanced laboratory tools have expanded research possibilities, but true quality still depends on clear problem formulation, critical interpretation, and ethical use of technology. Central to all scientific progress is trust: trust in data, methods, interpretations, and ethical conduct. Misconduct such as plagiarism, fabrication, duplicate submission, or improper authorship erodes this foundation and undermines science itself. Our journal adheres strictly to COPE, ICMR, and international ethical standards and emphasizes responsible authorship based on genuine intellectual contribution, proper mentorship, acknowledgment of institutional and collaborative support, and a culture of transparency, integrity, and mutual respect within research teams.
A university journal plays a crucial role in nurturing emerging researchers by providing an academic environment that supports postgraduate students, doctoral scholars, and early-career faculty as they develop scientific writing, analytical skills, and research competence. To bridge existing gaps, our journal offers learning-oriented publication opportunities, constructive and developmental peer reviews, encouragement of methodological rigor and innovative design, academic writing workshops, and avenues for collaborative research across departments and institutions. We aim to create a supportive ecosystem that guides young scholars in developing confidence, responsibility, and intellectual maturity. At the same time, the importance of regional and local research cannot be overstated. Manipur and the wider Northeast India region face unique developmental, environmental, and socio-cultural challenges including landslides, soil erosion, seismic risks, shifting hydrology, public health inequalities, agricultural transitions, and sustainable energy needs—which demand context-specific scientific inquiry. The region's communities also hold valuable traditional ecological knowledge, medicinal practices, and biodiversity insights that must be scientifically documented and ethically integrated. Our journal promotes such research grounded in local realities and respectful of indigenous knowledge systems. Strengthening the publication culture at Dhanamanjuri University is equally vital; the university and its constituent colleges have the potential to become a regional research hub through regular seminars, collaborative projects, capacity-building workshops, research funding, and recognition of high-quality publications. We envision this journal as a catalyst for academic excellence, inspiring scholars to produce meaningful, socially relevant scientific contributions.
Looking ahead, the DMUJS aims to broaden its scope, raise publication standards, and enhance global visibility through indexing, digital accessibility, and open-access practices. The journal plans to introduce special issues on emerging themes, build stronger international collaborations, expand its reviewer network, and promote research aligned with national and global priorities. Efforts will also focus on improving the online submission and review system and establishing a diverse editorial advisory board. We believe that a journal's strength ultimately rests on the quality and integrity of the manuscripts it publishes, and we encourage faculty, scholars, and students to submit work that meets the highest ethical and scientific standards. We extend our sincere appreciation to reviewers for their rigorous contributions and to authors for entrusting us with their research; their collective efforts, along with the support of the university, sustain this publication. Ultimately, quality research is the cornerstone of scientific progress, demanding integrity, diligence, and intellectual maturity. As editors, we remain committed to fostering a platform grounded in robust methodology, innovative thinking, and ethical responsibility. The journal will continue to serve as a space where ideas grow, debates evolve, and knowledge advances, and we invite researchers to join us in strengthening this shared academic mission.
